Extra Curricular Activities : Shaping a Complete Personality

Vikash, that has a broad educational mission of developing the "whole student", believes that extra-curricular activities play a crucial role in personality developement. These activities inculcate different values amongst the students. By working together with other individuals, students learn to negotiate, communicate, manage conflicts, and lead others. The aim of extra-curricular activities is to make the students fit for the future time and to develop a sense of competitive spirit, co-operation, leadership, diligence, punctuality, and team-spirit as well as to provide a backdrop for the development of their creative talents. A wide and diversified range of extracurricular activities exist at Vikash campus, meeting a variety of students' interests.

Art & craft-

Our faculties are well-versed to unleash each student's inherent talent by guiding them through various techniques and helping them achieve their aspirations. Students interested in fine arts have a plethora of extracurricular opportunities in which they can actively participate. They can prepare beautiful crafts from waste and recyclable materials. A number of students have brought laurels to the institution by their success in State and National level competitions.

Dance & Music-

Dance & Music can truly demonstrate various customs, traditions, community culture, aspirations and accomplishments of human beings as they are embedded with various values and beliefs of common man. Activities including plays, musicals, and dance concerts offer a chance for students to demonstrate their dramatic abilities. At Vikash though students are trained for both Indian and western dance and music but priority is given towards Indian classical and folk dance forms and music. We have our own Folk Band & Rock Band of students who make us proud on many occasions by displaying their extraordinary mastery over both folk & western music.


Vikash promotes multi dimensional activities and competitions that include elocutions, debate, slogan writing, creative writing, recitation, quiz, song, dance, drawing, rangoli & various sports activities.

Writing for Wall Magazine-

"SABDARUPA", the wall magazine of VJC provides ample opportunities to the students to expose their writing and creative skills like writing prose, poetry, short story and decorating the magazine with their paintings and other works of art. Special editions are issued on special occasions like Independance Day, Nua Khai, Diwali, Annual Function etc.

Educational Tour-

Outdoor activities are essential grounds for a successful practical life. Every year the students of Vikash are being taken out of the college to the areas of adventure, art and culture and the places of historical values. we have already completed Educational tours to Kolkata, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Manali, Simla, etc.

Eco Club

To motivate the students to keep the surrounding green ECO CLUB has been formed in the college with the initial membership of 30 students. The establishment of eco club in the college empowers the students to participate in various environmental friendly activities and projects. With the favourable ambiance of the campus an aroma of fellow feeling towards all creation of God is being created by the students.

Eco club has a great infleunce on the young minds. They are energetically discharging their duties and they have been working tirelessly to add up their contribution to improve the challenging environmental conditions

The guidance of Eco Club Coordinator is helping the students in undertaking several awareness campaigns every year to improvise the ailing condition of the environment. Attending various training programmes is a regular affair. Various posters are being displayed on the activity board of the college on “GREEN EARTH CLEAN EARTH” and rallies are being organized carrying placards depicting hazards of environmental pollution. Celebrating “EARTH DAY” every year on April 22nd is a remarkable feature in joining hands in recognising the urgent need to save mother Earth.

They aim at creating better future for the next generation and to reverse the accelerating degradation of our planet’s natural environment.

Youth Red Cross

In a bid to prepare community for emergencies and to nurture humanitarianism in the youth, the Youth Red Cross unit was established in the college in 2005. It undertakes various tasks with the membership of 40 students guided by YRC programme officer. The unit has separate wings for boys and girls.

YRC helps to prepare the students to be caring citizens so that they have an opportunity to touch the lives of the needy and the helpless. The college is trying to make a difference in the students through organizing different camps on blood donation, first aid tips, observing road safety rallies and protection against fire incidents.

RED RIBBON CLUB, an HIV/AIDS awareness club actively maintained by the volunteers for creating consciousness among the people against AIDS.

The volunteers of the unit have been attending several training camps at the state and district level to create a new world full of security.
